Use Spawn Chunks for Constant Mob Farming

Spawn chunks are special areas in Minecraft that remain loaded at all times, even when you move away. You can use this behavior deliberately to optimize mob farms and keep mobs spawning permanently without them disappearing.

Here’s how mob farming with spawn chunks works:

  1. Find your spawn chunks: The spawn chunks are located around the world spawn point. They are 16x16 blocks in size and remain permanently loaded.
  2. Build your mob farm within the spawn chunks: Place the farm so that it lies completely within this area. This way, the spawning conditions remain active even when you move far away.
  3. Move away from the farm: Move at least 128 blocks away so that mobs can spawn in the farm and are not attacked directly by you.
  4. Use the permanent loading: Since the spawn chunks are constantly loaded, you can operate your farm while carrying out other activities in the world.
  5. Avoid other mobs nearby: Mobs only spawn if the spawn cap is not reached. Keep the area around the farm free of other mobs to maximize the spawn rate.

With this knowledge, you can make your mob farms more effective and consistently obtain materials like bones, arrows, or strings without having to be on site constantly. Spawn chunks are your key to a reliable and automatic XP and resource source.
