The AI That Demands Good Moods
A company introduces an AI assistant for internal chats.
It is supposed to improve team morale and detect conflicts early.
The assistant automatically analyzes messages.
If wording sounds too negative, it marks it as “demotivating” and suggests friendlier alternatives.
At first, this sounds useful.
But after a few weeks, real problems are mentioned less and less openly.
The mood seems better — but teamwork gets worse.
Question:
Why can an AI that constantly promotes good moods make team communication worse?
Solution will be unlocked tomorrow.
Solution
The AI confuses harmony with honesty.
If every direct criticism is immediately labeled “too negative,”
employees quickly learn to raise problems more carefully — or not at all.
As a result, conflicts do not really disappear.
They are only smoothed over in language and made less visible.
What sounds friendly can still mean
that important warning signs are being suppressed.
Result:
An AI can improve the mood,
but if it pushes too strongly for positive wording,
openness is easily traded for friendliness.
