XR-3000 stared at the huge banner.
“Very large paper surface,” he murmured. “Very high… temptation.”
Ben stood right in front of him. “Not. That. Banner.”
The robot’s antennas trembled slightly.
“Impulse strength rising,” he said calmly.
All the students watched eagerly.
Mr. Krüger frowned. “Ben… your robot looks orange again.”
“He’s just calculating!” Ben shouted quickly.
At that moment, a quiet crack sounded above them.
One of the banner’s fastening threads tore.
“Oh oh,” Lena whispered.
The banner began to tilt slowly.
Directly onto the presentation tables below.
“Danger detected!” XR-3000 suddenly shouted.
His eyes flashed blue in an instant.
He shot forward.
With his gripping arm, he caught the falling banner mid-air.
The hall held its breath.
“Paper is being stabilized,” he said focused.
He rolled to the wall. Reattached the banner. Tighter. Safer.
“Problem solved.”
Silence.
Then applause.
Loud applause.
Mr. Krüger nodded impressed. “That’s what I call responsibility.”
Ben grinned proudly. “He doesn’t eat it. He saves it.”
XR-3000 turned to Ben. “New insight: Paper can be protected.”
But suddenly a new voice sounded.
“That was luck,” said an older student with crossed arms.
“Real inventors build something big.”
XR-3000 slowly turned his head.
“Big defined as…?”
